What is a hedge fund? A hedge fund is a high risk alternative investment that is a basic portfolio, or fund, that tries to reduce risk associated with markets such as bonds, currency, equity or any form of high volume, high finance market by transferring some of that risk to another investor. This is a basic insurance policy for people already investing in other markets and interestingly the origin of the expression 'hedging your bets'. Usually a very expensive form of investment and can be high risk along with high rewards it it works! - much research (and much money) would be needed for this market.
