Options Dealings.
What an option? The basic definition of
an option is the right to buy or sell something at an agreed
price at a fixed date in the future. This 'right' is bought,
however, the buyer does not necessarily have to excersise
the buy option if it is not worth their while. The seller
however, has to sell at the price on the agreed date if the
buyer so chooses. As with many finance dealing there are many
different types of options, the main difference being US and
UK markets. Here we deal with UK options which will mainly
be referring to options on UK shares. Again, much learning
is needed for this investment, and there are many books and
web sites around to help. Another very useful tool in the
options area is using a broker that will let you 'play' on
the options exchange using a dummy portfolio, before any money
is spent. This is a great way to practice on this complex
market and to see if this type of investment is the one for
you without loosing any money.
Options are a very cheap way to potentially
make a considerable income, however, learn the strategies
involved and do not rush into this market. Also worth noting
is that as well as buying and selling options on other peoples
shares, you can also buy shares yourself and sell options
onthose, although that brings more complexity and risk with
it, it again can bring more rewards.
